Schaefferstown Harvest Festival

For those who do not know...the rags (mostly linen) were beaten to a pulp, literally. The screen in the bottom right corner is brought through the pulpy water. Flipped over on a board. It is then pressed, to push out all the water and voila--paper!

A real HUGE cider press. It smelled wonderful in there.

Everett is the fashionista of the family. He is VERY concerned about his outfits. Although he looks fantastic 99.9% of the time there are those days where "yellow matches yellow".

We love this place. The kids ALWAYS learn something. They learned about "rag money", "beating (someone) to a pulp" etc in relation to making paper.
