So we are sending her to a science camp this summer. I found out about a foundation that gives monies to kids based on academic achievement. Natalie filled out the application herself and was awarded nearly the full cost of the week long camp. We were thrilled. This is what they said about her during the awards ceremony(based on her answers and essays in the application): "Natalie, a first grader at ..., says that she loves nature, likes to ask questions about the world, loves to read chapter books and just loves learning. She thinks she would like to be an Irish dancer and mother when she grows up. She believes that going to ... will help her learn to take care of the earth and teach her children to love the world". The audience let out an audible sigh/aww when she said the part about being a "mother". Made me so happy. I am glad she thinks motherhood is a desirable thing. Picture of her after the ceremony with her best friend Amelie (and her younger sister).

I thought the Irish dancer thing was pretty impressive.
Way to go Natalie!
