Yea, so Natalie got her first real SHORT hair cut. I was tilting my head trying to angle up in the back and oops! she got a whopper of a haircut. I almost cried I was so upset with myself. She reassured me over and over, telling me that it would grow out, and she said she liked it that short. Later though she came in the room from brushing her teeth (after bath, when hair was wet) and said she looked like a boy. Aaaah! That is exactly what I DID NOT want her to think. I apologized again, and she said "Mom, you know that I will always forgive you!" Dan pointed out that in only a few weeks it will grow out enough to not look this short for school. Thankfully our kids hair grows FAST! Needless to say, I have NEVER had training in cutting hair.

What a gorgeous day!
Ok, our time in AZ really warped my perception of the east. I know it gets dang HUMID here but for some reason I was expecting it to be dreadfully hot summers. Considering 100degree days popped in as early as February in AZ, I was expecting PA to be bad, certainly by June. Yet here we are, sitting in beautiful 60's and 70's. Humidity is low. I was amazed last year at how mild the summer was. Now I am realizing it is as I suspected--because AZ was SO hot, everywhere else must be too. Not really! Here we are enjoying the "pool". The kids do not know any different and love it just the same. It is nice that they are easily amused. Certainly it will be nice to head back to the lake--although I am not wishing for the needed high temperatures.

More birds and Playing in Basin
So until someone buys the recently built home next door to us, the kids enjoy playing in the "water basin". It makes OUR yard seem SOOO much bigger when the kids go way out to pick clover flowers. We always have a bouquet of them on the kitchen table. We have also been enjoying bi-weekly visits to the nature preserve. This last time we saw two ring-necked pheasant pairs, two bald eagles, some other new ones too. I saw a kingfisher when yard sale-ing this past Saturday. I LOVE bird watching and the kids really dig it. Dan documents what birds we have seen when and where. Anyway, it is so nice being around all this wildlife. Although the rabbits that eat our cabbage are not too appreciated. Just last night coming home from a friends house we saw two deer by the side of the road, near a townhouse development, near our neighborhood. Seems they were lost to come that close to town.
Oregon Dairy Days, Year Two
We visited Oregon Dairy for their Family Fun Days. It was another great day. It did pour down rain, but luckily the few minutes of downpour, we were under cover eating lunch. The kids did a stream study, rode a pony, barrel ride, and plenty of other things. Thankfully, they did not spend much time holding chicks...hahaha!
