House Day 23

They do not usually work on Saturdays (or Sundays--then it is NEVER), but today they were there "catching up" since it rained all day yesterday. Supposedly they were out at the house at 5am starting (yesterday). They must have known it was going to rain and wanted to put in as much as they could before it poured.

Anyway, we actually got out of the car and went around back today--chatting with the neighbors again. He are a few of the better pics Natalie took.

House Day 20 Part 2

So this evening, on errands, we were near the house...AGAIN. Dan wanted to see it. Wow what another few hours gave. It is still missing the master bedroom, above garage. but that is basically the home. Once they are done outside we won't have many exciting updates. We LOVED walking the new development in Winslow--it was so fun watching those homes go up and now we get to watch our own.

Of course there were kids roaming the house tonight. And some lady was scouting out the land for something--with wheelbarrow in tow. I have seen her there before. Who knows what she is hunting for. We have startled her both times. It will be nice when the house is complete--on the exterior--and locked up.

House Day 20

The house now has a second floor and supposedly will have the trusses up some time this afternoon.

This is quite exciting...

House Day 19

Pics of the house being framed. I wonder how far they got today...will see tomorrow.

Check out Everett's new hair cut. It is HARD to cut his hair--he moves around so much. Not one of his better ones.

Natalie on her 2nd day of school-yup, I failed to take a pic yesterday!

House Day 17

So our neighbors, who are also building are 1 week ahead of us in the build job. Their home is almost completely framed and under roof, so we expect the same of ours this week. Here are the pics, poured garage and basement floor with sump pump hole and edging. Notice the broken window frame, yup we are on it!

We Love CICADAS!

What a wonderful day at the park. It was molting time for the "7 year locusts"--not really locusts though, CICADAS! Hearing them all summer has been a wonderful treat. We entered the park, greeted by a cicada, that seemed to not have much energy. Natalie thought he was not alive because she could not see him breathing. We gently touched his wings and he walked slowly away from our finger tips. They have just been molting this past week or so and there are oodles of "smoochies" (as Natalie calls them) all over the trees. Interestingly there many on conifers and NONE on other trees. Wonder why? Anyway, I remember, as a child, picking the "smoochies" off the trees and sticking them on other people. Fun. Well today, my very brave kids did the same thing. (I actually heard from my sis-in-law that their cousin ate one the other day--she'll probably serve a mission in a part of the world where they do eat them--well the actual cicada, not just the molten shell). Enjoy the pics.

House Day 14 and Bus Ride Night at School

What an emotional day. It began in Lancaster visiting with Tyler and his family. We came home early evening to take Natalie to a Bus Ride Night at school. We met in the auditorium, were briefed by the Principal, Natalie and other K-gartners went on a bus ride while were were furthur introduced to the goings on at the school. I was very impressed with the presentation and the things that are being done at the school. I am also VERY impressed that with a half day K class (2.75 hours to be exact) most all K students READ by the end of the first year. Amazing that (as P-pal mentioned) 20 years ago we were learning the Alphabet and colors in K-garten. It is great that there are such high expectations. He also spoke about how at this early age their brains are soaking in everything and now is the time to teach them to read and WRITE (he really emphasized this). Natalie is already reading and writing. She does struggle on some words still but her writing is amazing. She has gotten so much better even in the last month. I am amazed by the words she spells almost perfectly. Smart girl!

Anyway, she was able to remeet her teacher and meet some of the kids. She was VERY excited. Of course as they were lining the kids up against the wall before the bus ride I started blubbering. I could not control the tears. It was too emotionaly overwhleming. I am sure all you friends with older kids know what I went through...but it was hard...and it was not even the first day of school. Yikes!

Afterward she played outside for a while. This will be one of our next parks considering it will be a few minutes walk from our new home.

To make a long blog even longer...we visited the home...not too much done since Tuesday. They have prepped it for pouring the basement floor and garage floor. It should be under roof by end of next week.

And to make it even longer,

Get this... the man we purchased our land from..RELATIVE. It is amazing. I met his brother tonight and he and shared family stories--it was confirmed by my mother that we indeed ARE related. The Mennonites are big into FH also. I am so excited. He also lives in our neighborhood. We will certainly be getting together.

WOW, longest entry ever...Sorry. Enjoy the pics.

House Day 12

So after going to our Dent n' Bent store, (nothing better than FILLING a cart full of groceries--frozen veggies, fresh fruit and veggies, canned foods, cleaning supplies...for $46.47!!!--I LOVE being back in this area--aside from the fact that we are close to family--we have salvage grocery stores!--I am so glad to NOT be shopping at Walmart anymore...) we always drive past the house. Come the day Natalie starts school, next Monday, we will be going past every day to see what they have been doing. Today they were leveling out the ground and obviously placed the support beam, or is it cross beam. Anyway, not much today but Natalie wanted to snap a picture.

Why did the rooster cross the road?...

On the way to the lake we see these two trees. Cool huh?

Our view!

We have the BEST view from our townhouse. My favorite row of trees and the setting sun. Amazingly this townhouse is situated the same way as our new home, the view of the setting sun will be ours..unobstructed! YEA!!!

House Day 8 and Body Paint and Physical

Whoa! Drama day, giving shots to a 5 year old. Physical too! She is great! Height, she is still in 97th percentile. Weight, in the 85th. BMI right on 50. Doc said weight is high because height is so high. Natalie is healthy and we are glad.

We had a little body painting with chalk..just LOVE WET CHALK! Please NOTE: That face of Everett's..not his permanant one! :) He likes to scrunch up his face when he says "cheese" so most all of our pictures of him look like this.

And the house...what is that HUGE opening in the side?! Egress window-to-be...gotta be able to climb out of the basement. Here is the house on day 8 of of the build.
